Casa Margarita Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

Casa Margarita is one of our favorite mexican restaurants on the south side. Yes, we could easily go into the city and find amazing mexican food. But for the location, yes this place is great. Though it seems to be going downhill. My family has frequented the spot since it opened a good number of years ago. We always loved that the chips came warm and freshly salted and with two different salsa a pico and a hot salsa. They also would always bring out spicy carrots and other side dishes. This was a great addition to the meal, but they now only serve chips and pico de gallo, very very mild. As a vegan I do love coming here for their vegetarian burrito. I get it without the cheese. The vegetables are always so fresh and perfectly cooked. The juices and the crispy burrito is great with hot sauce. My mom loves coming here for their creamy guac. Their guacamole is a HUGE order and quite expensive. But it is worth it. The guacamole is so damn good. I have yet to taste any better. Even though sometimes the service is a bit slow and sometimes a bit loud. This place is a great spot for a good eat.

Great authentic Mexican food, staff is very friendly. Margaritas are excellent.

I stopped here for dinner with a friend when I was out in Orland and we were blown away by the great service we got. We figured it would be the typical Mexican place, but were surprised at how helpful and friendly our waitress was. she had great suggestions and even brought us out a small dessert she had put together for us. Next time we are in the area, we will be sure to revisit!

If I could give this place 1 1/2 stars, I would. I went here with my sister based on her rave reviews. In short, I was not impressed. For a Saturday afternoon at the lunch rush, this place was dead. Red flag, anyone? Not even a 5 minute wait? Oh boy. Next, the service was just plain crappy. Our server checked on us once and was more than happy to collect the bill when she thought there'd be a tip for her, but it took her 20 minutes to even FIND our bill. The food was okay, but it was nothing remarkable. I've had better at Pepe's, and that's saying something. I was spoiled working in Gage Park for 4 years, but when Chipotle and Taco Bell are "good Mexican" compared to this place, you're in trouble. My chicken fajitas were dry. Blech. The salsa was watery. Very, very watery. My sister's carne asada platter was small and definitely not worth the $12 she paid for it. I won't be back.

Meh. I met a friend here for lunch, everything seemed to be average at best. My avocado toastadas did have lots of avocado on them, which was nice- they certainly didn't cheap out there. The service was fine, and they didn't mind that we took up a booth for 4.5 hours chatting. I just wasn't impressed or excited by this place really.

Margaritas with one of my gal pals so I was mostly oblivious to my surroundings. Not really much time to pay attention to detail when your are catching up. I can tell you that the service was friendly, although just a little slow & the place was clean. So let's talk about the consumption of many calories. I am a huge fan of Mexican food. Being greeted with chips and salsa (which was pretty darn good) gives bonus points in my book any day. The food however was, in my opinion, your average run of the mill "chain" ( still yummy ) Mexican food. Too bad we were not here on a Tuesday or Thursday for the margarita special because the bill get a little pricey before you know it even with a $25.00 gift certificate.

This place was just okay. I been here before for margaritas which can be very good. We went on a Saturday the place was almost dead. Food was meh okay nothing to speical. My margarita was great loved it my boyfriends tasted like you where drinking liqure right out the bottle. Maybe we come here again possible to try the one in Lagrange instead.

I was skeptical at first especially after only seeing 3 stars as well as being partially of Mexican descent I tend to be more critical of Mexican food however, casa margarita did not disappoint. I recommend the Asada y relleno a tender skirt steak and cheese stuffed poblano pepper coated in a nice batter with traditional refried beans and rice. It's not a 5 star place by any means but it f you're looking for a bite to eat In a casual environment then you could do a lot worse. Bottom line is I'd come back and bring friends. The margaritas were pretty good and you need to order the "flight". Also the fried ice cream would be worth ordering as your last meal pre-execution that is if there's enough time because it's beast.

This one n down town Lagrange is very disappointing. Serves is horrible. We order nacho n never got it. Time before that we never received our soup. This place is only good for there drinks. I don't recommend this place to no one for regular service.

I've been to this place a couple of times, typically just for drinks and quick bite. I've never been disappointed....until now. Went in last night for dinner, there were 3 of us. The food was great, service was great and the portions were big enough for 2 meals...which would be great if..... Starting this morning, I started feeling sick. Talked to the other 2 people in the party and guess what....they too were sick (won't go into the details...). Hey, it happens. No hard feelings, until I called the restaurant. I wasn't looking for a free meal, heck I don't even want a coupon, I thought I would do them a favor and let them know that 3 people who dined in their restaurant all developed the same symptoms within 8-12 hours of eating at their place. None of us live together, so it's not like we passed it between us in the house. The manager was extremely rude on the phone, all she was worried about was reinforcing how fresh their food is...I don't doubt it--hey the food was delicious! I would give this place 5 stars for the food---0 stars for the managers response to the situation. I just hope nobody else gets sick from her lack of attention to the matter!

Food was alright not the greatest.I can get cheaper and better quality food in chicago. We had a group of 7 people.Ordered drinks and after that the waitress rosa forgot about us and never checked in with us.We all wanted food but decided not to eat because of lack of service. When one of us decided to order we had to wait 20 minutes to get her attention.I ordered mine to go i couldnt stand the lousy service. It was a company dinner and we are customer service workers and that definetely was not service.Im from a hispanic background and those tacos were not good.I would recommend going for the margaritas but get ready to wait for awhile.

The food was great! The premium original margarita was TERRIBLE! And they served it to me in a beer mug...weird!

Disgusting! I ordered shrimp with garlic and there was so much garlic I couldn't stand it. The chips were stale, and margarita was ok. Seriously, if you are reading this and haven't ordered yet , GET OUT while you still can!

Drinks!!! The drinks are strong, very strong which I appreciate. Went for an early dinner on sat, we were seated right away. I had a cadillac margarita and chicken fajitas which were very delicious. Those maragaritas make sure you have a DD if you drink one. Not sure about the other reviewers experience but I enjoyed the food and great service from our waiter. Definitely will be back again.

Lunch buffet got smaller and is now $8.95...not worth the money for sure. The tortillas were burnt and soggy, flat coke, and sour pudding! Will not be back.

Always driven by Casa Margarita but never tried it until this weekend. Meh... prob could have kept on driving. The food was mediocre, the restaurant was empty and really...outdated i guess you could say inside. The staff was really nice and friendly, prob the one bright spot.

Lots of choices for their margaritas. I do not like that you can not order tacos or tostadas ala carte as their portion sizes are kind of large. It usually is not too crowded and can get a table quickly. The service is always friendly.

I really wish I would have looked further into reviews when this restaurant was suggested for dinner by my friend. I've visited the casa margarita in Lagrange and had a bad experience, and was hoping this location would change my opinion. It didn't. We were seated quickly because there was about 1 other table in the whole restaurant. It took at least 10+ minutes (enough time for my friend to use the bathroom, come back and be seating for a bit) for the server to even stop by and introduce herself. After waiting quite some time for drinks we ordered. I ordered the combination fajitas and picked chicken and steak. After we received our food, I ate one fajita before noticing the rest of the plate had shrimp on it, which I am allergic. Meanwhile, we had not ever been checked up on at least 15 minutes after receiving our food from someone else. When I finally saw the server I asked her about the fajitas and first she looked confused, and I said I didn't ask for shrimp. She proceeded to argue saying I did, and my friend also stated she heard me say chicken and steak. Regardless of that I've #1 never been argued with about what was ordered, and #2 she told me she wasn't going to fix the problem. I asked her to see a menu because she insisted that combination meant all 3 choices, which it has been a while but in AP English I'm pretty sure I learned that combination means select choices from a large group not all of the above. I would have taken 1/2 order of the fajitas remade, I wasn't asking for anything for free. After asking to speak to a manager since the server was really rude and I wasn't in the mood to argue. Typically servers try to rectify the situation not escalate it. The manager was clearly talking to the sever but never came by until the end when we were leaving walking past quickly. In order to fix the problem the server completely takes away all of my food the fajita set, guacamole, sour cream, etc. after waiting not very long a small plate comes out which looks like they just took the shrimp out and tossed around the old fajita set. My silverware was taken away so I couldn't even anything when food was redelivered. I never got my guacamole or sour cream. After waiting a while we asked for boxes, the server walked away with our plates which I don't trust. She never gave us our tortillas for our fajitas with our food. I gave my friend my food because I really didn't trust it not being the same food with shrimp picked out. The server never said thank you, just took our credit cards and gave them back without a word. After hearing about no tortillas for the fajitas I really regret giving this server a 20% tip. I've been in the hospitality business for years and I really think this was the worst experience I've ever had. I never give less than 20% tip. I know how it is to work off tips but this woman didn't deserve my hard earned money for being extremely rude. No wonder this place is empty. NEVER AGAIN.

If you take a little bit from the reviews for this place, you can piece together my review. Walked in on a Saturday night and was seated right away, waitress was there soon after that and all through the meal she stop by to see how things were going. But the two things that upset me were that she tried to up sell drinks, from going for just a margarita to a one made with premium tequila, more expensive. Also she insisted on talking Spanish constantly, even though we did not and she spoke perfect English. The chips and salsa were bland and had no taste to them. Also the food that we ordered was bland tasting, no spice kick at all. The portion size was more than expected. Like every one mentions about the free bowl off soup, I have eaten at a lot of Mexican restaurants and never was served chicken noodle soup. The decor is kind of funky, but we sat at a booth and it was extremely roomy and comfy.

No bueno! The staff was friendly but food was awful. They were too heavy handed with the salt and the food was overcooked.

Just brought the family here for the first time. I got steak tacos and kids got steak quesadillas, which I thought were very very good. The wife got steak burrito which we both didn't care for. The rice wasn't good and there was a lot in the burrito. Chicken noodle soup was very good too. Salsa needs some work, chips were good but the waitress seemed stingy with getting more so we felt weird about a 3rd basket. The baskets of chips are very tiny.

My husband and I go here usually at least once a month. It's not because the food is so great, but the service is good, the portions are good, and my husband likes the food. I'm not a big Mexican food fan to begin with, so that's part of why my stars are less. We like the chips and salsa. They will bring you as much as you want. If you like salsa with the kick, though, there's is mild. The chicken soup that comes with the dinners is very good, too. Because we're "regulars" they finally get my drink order right. My husband usually gets the taco dinner or chimichanga. I don't care for the cheese on the nachos. It gets cold and hardens too fast. Overall, it's an okay place to eat. It is always clean, and as I said, the servers are friendly and service is good. Food is adequate.

Woof! This place is really not very good. And I am trying to be nice. I have tried to like it, and have even tried it more than once (even the best have their off nights) to make sure that it wasn't just a fluke, and it is really just a very mediocre place at best. One of our visits (our last) was my absolute worst Mexican food experience. I would drop by for a margarita if the mood hit me, but nothing past that. Service is also pretty weak. Practically had to tackle our wait staff the few times we tried it here to get a place our order, get a drink refill, and get the check at the end. Plenty of other places in the neighborhood to waste your time here.

Me and my boy friend were looking for somewhere new to eat and I immediately remembered this place. We would see it all the time driving to or from the mall and thought we should give it a shot. We walked in and it definitely felt like I just walked into an authentic Mexican home. It took a minute for the hostess to turn around and notice we were there, but she looked like she was talking with a manager so we just ignored it. It was around 8:30, so the place was pretty packed and she said it would be about a 10 minute wait. Totally okay with us. So we go and take a seat and reach for the take out menu when she then told us a table was actually ready for us. Our waitress took a while to get to our table, but like I said before, it was busy so we understood. Before we ordered a nice basket of chips and delicious bowl of salsa came to our table. First bite of that and I was in heaven. The chips had a lime flavor to it and it went really good with the salsa. I ordered the burrito dinner and my boy friend ordered the burrito suizo. Another round of chips and salsa came our way and to our surprise, a nice little bowl of soup. We had no idea that we got free soup with our dinner and we were very shocked. The soup tasted fresh and it was still hot too. It had a nice mix of everything in one bite. Our food took almost no time to come out after that. If I had to choose one word to describe my plate it would be huge. This burrito was gigantic. So then naturally, we dug right in. I absolutely loved the rice. The peas and carrots that they added to it gave it extra flavor and texture and was amazingly delicious. The beans, however, were good at first, but as I continued to eat them, I noticed they had sort of a coffee taste and it was just throwing me off too much. I wasn't a huge fan of that. I cut the burrito in half so I could see everything inside. It looked so yummy. And I had completely forgot to tell our waitress that I wanted no tomato, because ever Mexican restaurant I go to, has long full slices of tomatoes and I'm not a fan of that. But these were diced up just how I like them and I didn't have to pick any out. I was only able to eat half of my burrito before throwing in the towel. We were then asked if we wanted dessert, but we said no, but was still brought out a little plate of sopapillas. They were like fried tortillas sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar and had chocolate sauce drizzled all over them. So freaking good. I really recommend this place. I only gave it 4 stars because of the wait staff taking their time, but I guess it's one of those places to go and talk with someone without having multiple interruptions. We didn't get any drinks, we just stuck with water so our bill including a tip came out to be $30. So not a bad place to just go and have great Mexican food and enjoy each other's company.

If it wasn't for the free soup this place would get no stars. My wife is a huge fan of Mexican food and she really likes the drinks here. food wise she says that the quality has gone down some over the past few years. The only thing that I can say is that when I started going here it was bad and it has stayed that way each time that we have eaten here. I am glad that my wife has finally grown weary of the place so I do not have to go there anymore and pretend that I am enjoying my meal. Stay away the service is below average and the prices are above average. Stale chips and caned Salas's can do much better.

A solidly decent meal, but far from exceptional. The husband and I were visiting his parents for the day, and the 5-year-old among us requested a "chip restaurant" for dinner (his term for Mexican places). So Casa Margarita was decided upon and off we went. The decor is kinda cheesy. They have rooms named after regions of Mexico and sombreros and bright colors and so forth. The menu is fairly typical, with a few interesting-looking more authentic items, but not a lot. The chips are fine, they don't taste stale but neither do they taste homemade; the salsa appears to be homemade and fresh but just lacks that "zing" that makes me want to eat the whole bowl. Dinners are served with a cup of chicken soup that is tasty but, again, not really all that exciting. I had chicken enchiladas verdes, and the chicken was good, tender but not overly seasoned; the cheese was not fully melted and the salsa verde had a slightly odd sweetness to it. Beans and rice were nothing exciting. Service was pretty good, with plenty of refills, but the waitress seemed easily flustered. Granted, I don't blame her for being confused by the loud confusion WE tend to have. I noticed a lot of wait staff just standing around, waiting for a rush that, by the time we left, had not yet arrived. I honestly think Orland Park doesn't have any really good sit-down Mexican places; the best Mexican is probably at the small taquerias. Orland specializes in chains and brewpubs, and perhaps you should either pick the local brewpub or the taqueria.

Very good food and the margaritas are delicious! Tuesday and Thursdays are 1/2 price margaritas. The chips are good...they are a bit thicker than other restaurant chips. The salsa is very good...steak tacos are yummy. The service is hit or miss, one time we go it is great...the next time, not so great.

Full disclosure- I worked for the owner of Casa Margarita at one of his other concepts a while ago and had never had Casa Margaritas food. I have not worked for him in some time. I had a coupon for the restaurant and had everything "to-go" so I cannot speak for the service. I ordered the chimichanga suiza and the chicken fajitas and nachos. The nachos were a large order but the chips tasted rather stale. The chicken fajitas and chimichanga had ZERO flavor. Mexican food is supposed to have some zing and spice to it. I'm not even sure if there was salt. The only upside was that the portion sizes were very good. My wife and I had enough for leftovers, which when I reheated I added salt, pepper, garlic, onion and paprika...then my wife said the fajitas were pretty good. I'm glad I had a coupon so I didn't pay a dime because I can get much more flavorful and cheaper Mexican fare at the taqueria down the road from my house.

Wish my wifi had worked before I came in. I agree with prior poster that the only tasty thing was free soup. Awful food, served Luke warm. It was as if they threw some ground beef into a tortilla and poured canned enchilada sauce on it, nuked it for 30 seconds and served and it literally came out that. Fast. Ugh.

I'd like to say Casa Margarita in Orland Park is a joke, but there's nothing the least bit amusing about it. This place caters to those who've spent an afternoon at Orland Square Mall, and those diners must just want a place to sit, get out of the rain or to use the restroom facilities. This certainly is not a place to come to for a good dining experience no matter if you are into Mexican food or can take it or leave it. I've tried to like this place, honestly, but have been disappointed each time I've been there. Admittedly, I've only come in for the lunch buffet but have never been happy with my meal upon leaving. The selection is so-so, and I could be satisfied with that, but the food is never more than slightly warm. So no matter what you've chosen, how good can it be if there's no warmth. It most cases, there seemed to be very little flavor. It's just cheap food, nothing more. What prompted this review was a visit there Sunday, June 5. I had made a Groupon purchase and chose to use it. I'm not going to complain about a cheesy decor. What the hell, it's a Mexican restaurant, don't you expect bright colors and appropriate decorations? I'm not going to say the chips and salsa aren't authentic. I've never had them made fresh in Mexico, or even by Rick Bayless, so I guess I'm clueless but they were warm and crisp, fair enough. To be fair, for dinner my wife ordered an appetizer plate of nachos, and they weren't bad at all. Plenty of ground beef, cheese, sour cream, tomatoes, guacamole and peppers. Really nothing to moan about here other than that the food was just lukewarm. The problem came with my enchiladas supreme, ordered with one ground beef and two cheese enchiladas. Everything on the plate was dry, and I mean dry. The refried beans had a skim coat of dry "film" on them. The rice was dry with very little flavor. But the major criminal factor here were the enchiladas. Again, barely lukewarm. The beef broke up into little dry brown flecks on my plate and the cheese was solid, no juiciness whatsoever. It looked as though the cook cut strips of cheese from a block and wrapped a totilla around it. Then the three enchiladas were topped with a strip of dry, firm cheese. I ate about half while waiting for my server to return to the table, and that was some wait. Even though there were relatively few patrons there at 6:00 pm he found other things to do. When he came to refill my soft drink I mentioned my problem. His response? "Okay". That was it. I picked up one of the offending enchiladas by a flap of tortilla like someone holding a mouse by its tail to show this cold stiff lump of cheese. With no reaction from him, I asked that he remove the plate and present us with the check. I guess he felt bad after all because he gave us a plate of dry chips with Hershey's chocolate syrup. Not an order of sopapilla, mind you, with cinnamon and whipped cream but some chips and syrup. Before leaving, I spoke to someone at the host podium to voice my displeasure (in a low key way). The person I spoke to was surprised, and told me first that probably not enough oil was used in preperation, then told me they had a new cook and she would take this up with him. Yeah.

because the line at uncle Julio's was 70 minutes...we opted to try this place. great menu and plethora of margarita options. their salsa is outstanding and we all loved our food. their customer service is through the roof. we had requested to sit somewhere more well lit because my dad can't see very well. they adjusted the lights. have never had a restaurant do that for us before. will definitely come back! our waitress was excellent too...thanks Melissa!

I decided to try Casa Margarita due to a groupon deal. I am glad I went at a discounted rate because the food was only decent, the famous Margaritas were good, but pricey, and the service was not very good. After ordering, the food came 30 minutes later even though they were not very busy at all. On top of that, they got our order wrong. One of my friends ordered a burrito which came out as steak fajitas, and my chicken fajitas came out as steak fajitas. I told them that I would just take that steak fajitas, but charge me the chicken fajita price, while my friend has to wait while they cooked his burrito. The best part of Casa Margarita was their Raspberry Pina Colada and fried ice cream. If you are going to this restaurant, I would skip the food and go straight to the drinks (on discount days) and fried ice cream.

First I am a bit of a mexican food snob, okay actually a BIG snob. So this place located out in the burbs is not really going to get my stamp of approval. However to be fair, I will grade it against other burb type locations and it still gets 2 stars. Service was awkward- I mean super awkward. I think the waitress had her mind on something else. The chips were stale, the salsa was okay and the food wasn't really that good. On a Sunday afternoon, the place was pretty empty. If you just want a place to grab some food because you are hungry, this place will do.

Had lunch there and passed on the buffet because we had a buy-one-get-one-free coupon. Both of us had the chicken fajitas and they were OK. The portion size was very good and the lunch price at roughly $10 was not bad either. But, I would not recommend spending $14 on them for dinner. Neither of us were even close to being that wowed by the taste. I would not recommend paying full price for this restaurant based on the two times I have been there (both visits with a coupon). If you have a buy-one-get-one-free coupon, it's worth a try. As for the service, it too was nothing special. Took a while to get the check and it was wrong and needed correcting. They did turn that part around pretty quickly though.

The steak quesadilla was great it was more like a steak taco. The place was empty and not cracking on a Saturday night. My first time going and I was not impressed.

If you are looking for delicious, authentic Mexican food...this is not the place. Unless by delicious and authentic you mean bottom of the pot, burnt ground beef (it took hours to get the taste out of my mouth) on your taco. The salsa was comprised of chunks of tomato, some colorful stuff and ketchup and the chips were courtesy of Tostado. The Margaritas were delicious and the service was very nice. Other than that, I was not impressed. Oh, wait, I did like the cinnamon tortilla chips with whipped cream and chocolate but I like anything with whipped cream and chocolate.

This is a CATERING REVIEW: For the amount of food you get and the price per person ($8.95) it is a decent choice. For that I give it 3 stars. However the food is neither stellar nor authentic. Salsa is okay, mild with chunks of onion and tomato but with no remote spice to it. Chips are Mission brand that have been heated. I say this because the box our food came in was for Mission brand tortilla chips. And they looked and tasted like the bag I already had at home. Trimmings were your basic refried beans and commercial grade Spanish rice. Fajitas were a bit dry yet smothered in juices to make up for the slight dryness. Ask for more tortillas; we only received two per person. All-in-all, we enjoyed our plentiful amounts of food at a really good price but when I dine out for Mexican, I visit other area places that offer a bit more authenticity.

ew. i've never been to a restaurant that serves guacamole with avocados that are not yet ripe, until i went to this place. disgust. and uhm... when i ask for tequila & lime w/NO margarita mix, why did these people have to add sweet & sour, or margarita mix, or something?? ....I should not be able to suck tequila & lime down as if it were a Capri Sun.... Casa Margarita works with a few different ingredients, prepared differently. Your taco will be the exact same ingredients as your fajitas, prepared differently. BORING ((and gross)) The only reason I was even at this restaurant is because I was meeting a friend for mex din on Cinco De Mayo while on my way home from the burbs. I almost didn't write this review because I'm embarassed to admit I was even there. That's how bad it was folks. ew.

How the hell can they mess up Mexican food? The salsa tasted like Pace Picante. The service SLOOOOWWWWW and clueless. I had a bill 1/2 cash, 1/2 debit and they put only $6 on the debit out of $36. How is that 1/2 and 1/2? I will never go here again. It sucks.

I TOTALLY DISAGREE WITH THE REVIEWS I AM READING ABOUT CASA MARGARITA! I just went there tonite for the second time and BOTH times the food has been delicious, the service great, the ritas wonderful and the whole experience above average. I am a food critic and I dine out on an average of 4 nights a week. Based on my experience at this establishment, I cannot find the posted reviews valid and as far as the "Cupon Clippers" go, well...................enough said about THAT!

We visited on 10/16/2010 to use a entertainment coupon. The restaurant is comfortable and we sat in the bar in a booth. Service was good we had a very nice and friendly server. The food is acceptable, not not best Mexican food I ever had but not the worst. Prices were about $11.00 for a dinner. When we went to pay server said they were accepting Entertainment coupons today, The coupon has valid anytime, but server said come back and use it another time because we are not accepting today! I don't understand why restaurants put out ads they don't honor, minus 1 star.

If you like authentic Mexican food, this place fits the bill. The chips and salsa were tasty, although the salsa could have used a little more salt. I had the cheese enchiladas - enchilada sauce was perfect, and loads of chihuahua cheese. Cheese quesadillas (once again with chihuahua cheese) were good, served with excellent guacamole and sour cream. I will definitely order the guacamole as a side order next time. The rice and beans were as they should be (rice had the peas and carrots in them) - that's the make or break for me for any Mexican restaurant - must have good beans and rice! The service was excellent. Too full to try dessert - maybe next time. Also, the decor was really nice - something worth mentioning. You walk in and the first thing you see is a mini waterfall, and cute barstools/chairs in the upper bar area painted with an original design. The steps have shattered stained glass on them, and there are sectioned off dining areas that you can see through "windows" with yellow-painted shutters - kind of country Mexican if there is such a thing. The dishes were even different colors of bright Mexican (green, yellow, blue, red). If I could get away for lunch, this place has a lunch buffet also!

This is the second time my wife and I have been to Casa Margarita in as many weeks. So far my wife has had the Chicken fajitas last week and the chicken enchiladas supreme this week. She was very happy with both selections The mild salsa was a little wierd being served heated but had a nice sweetness and perfect heat for someone happy with this(such a s my wife) Ask for the hotter salsa that is cold, 6 out of 10 in heat and a dark red color. I had the enchiladas mole last week. The Mexican chocolate mole had a fruity mildly sweet richness covering the generous portion of perfectly done enchiladas. Beans and rice were nothing special but perfectly acceptable. This week I had the chicken tamales with red sauce. They were the largest tamales I ever saw. Moist and tender, the pork filling had a nice flavor. Last week we shared a fried ice cream. It was also gigantic in portion and very tasty. We could have easily shared it 4 ways! This week we had a order of flan. Also tasty with an adult amount of sweetness and this time my wife and I polished it off with no problem. Maxi, our waitress, was very attentive, friendly and informative. Her service was accurate, perfectly paced and timed. I hope we get her station again. .

Great Service, Good Fajitas, Good Chicken Tacos, Comfortable Seating, Big Table, $$, Ask For The Hot Salsa (2nd Salsa), A More Enthusiastic Host Would Be A Plus But People(Public)/Your Average Are Bogus Let's Give Her The Benefit Of The Doubt.

Remarkably bad & expensive. Powder lemonade, jar salsa, meh chips. Pro: Huge portions 6:30pm on a Friday and there are 2 staff for every table. Very slow. Redeeming factors: Sizzling fajitas! Free appetizer for Yelp check-in.

I am surprised with the low rating by my fellow helpers. Great service, hot chips served with tasty salsa. Tacos were very nice with good seasoned chicken. Guacamole was also very good. The place was empty for lunch. Very colorful decor. I liked the place.

The service, food, and drinks were all pretty good. No complaints with the service of Luis, the food was seasoned very well, and the drinks...you have to try the Margarita fights.

The food here is pretty terrible. To be fair, I had the buffet and didn't order off the menu. They had a little of everything out there though and none of it made me want to head back. It was all basic and bland. They were very slow to refill items that sat empty for long periods of time as well. The only thing that saved this lunch for me was getting tipsy on the margarita flight. Once I saw the price I was happy I was a little drunk. $15! I thought that was steep. The service was slow. Considering all she had to grab was a few drinks and our check I thought it was ridiculous. I also felt like the entire place could use a major cleaning!

First, I didn't realize that the buffet had been discontinued other customers did not know as well. And there weren't that many customers! Second, stay away from the "chicken" soup. Three pieces of meat in a bland broth. I did not like the chicken chimichanga that I ordered. I prefer grilled meat instead of shredded. Lastly, I the dinner comes with dessert! Good value overall.

We have been here many times over the years. This place is decent. The decor to me is typical Mexican. A bit overdone. The wait staff is very good. We came here again last night. This place serves your average type of Mexican food that you will find most anywhere. Nothing fancy but decent. The chips and salsa are o.k. We started with guacamole. It is average but good. I had the shrimp fajitas. They were good. We also tried the steak quesadillas. Those were also pretty good. Also tried one of the combo platters which had a taco, flauta and enchilada. You get your choice of meats such as ground beef, shredded beef, chicken, carnitas or chicken. It was good but the enchilada is just average. All of the dinners come with rice and beans which are nothing fancy but ok also. Also all dinners come with a cup of chicken soup. All in all this place is decent but to me just on the edge of overpriced for what it is. Make no mistake as it is better than many of the other Mexican choices in the area.

Almost didn't go in after reading the reviews but glad we took the chance!!! Service was attentive and very pleasant. Be careful not to fill up on the salsa and chips - they kept refilling it quickly for our hungry group. You can even ask for a spicier salsa if the standard one is too mild) We ordered the fiesta enchilada with cheese (we're vegetarian) and all 3 sauces were excellent.. The green and red sauce especially.. They even customized one of the enchiladas with vegetables. Came with a healthy portion of rice and refried beans that made it shareable Nice place. Would recommend trying it

Came here for paint nite and was a little early. So I sat at the bar. Tuesday night is house margarita night. I thought that would be appropriate for the situation. It was served in a small beer mug full of ice. Can you say 3 sips? The chips were doughy tasting and the salsa was a red bowl of cilantro! I moved on to a soda and ordered pulled beef burrito dinner. It was big alright. But had zero flavor and sat like a led balloon the rest of the night. The painting party was a blast and would definitely come back for that since I had a Groupon! Man did I bend the instructor the wrong way. She wouldn't even look at my work because I wasn't a conformist. Bite Me! I was having fun. I will definitely eat before I start my next Monet experience.

I wanted to like this place because they have an authentic mole sauce - my fav. The first time visiting we actually liked it.... GREAT waiter, nice ambiance and good food. A fabulous virgin piña colada (preggo). They bring complimentary soup to start - but we are vegetarians. No biggie, nice gesture. We were stumped as to why the place were given so little stars. Upon returning it wasn't the same... Waitress and clueless and awkward, food was mushy and not good. Disappointed to learn the rice is made with chicken stock (though grateful our waitress told us) - and was replaced by two servings of inedible vegetables... The mole enchiladas weren't the same and my husband's shrimp dish wasn't good either. I like that they give you a little something sweet in the end, but it isn't enough :/

I went here for the first time on a Saturday night after spending the whole day shopping at Orland Mall. I was absolutely starving and couldn't have been happier with the food and service provided at Casa Margarita. I got a combination platter of a taco, flauta, and enchilada. All of the food was rather tasty. The flauta was my favorite though. It was fresh and crisp. They are a little pricey, but the food was good and fast. I look forward to going back.

I would give this place less than 1 star if I could. The food was good, but the service was atrocious! We went to Casa Margarita on February 22 at 4:30 pm. I had called earlier that morning and made a reservation for 15. I told the girl who answered that we had a mix of kids and adults but we were 4 families and asked if we could get 4 bills. She said it wasn't a problem. Upon arriving we were seated at a large table in the back which was great. We were greeted by the waiter and he took our drink order right away, even though our whole party had not yet arrived. After that point the service greatly declined. The waited seemed as if he didn't even care about our table or if he ever came back to check on us. Someone from our group continuously had to get up from the table to look for him if we needed something. And when you have kids in your party you need Extra napkins and such which we could never get. In addition to the constantly disappearing waiter, the wait between courses was excruciating! We waited about 30 minutes or more between receiving drinks, the soup and finally our dinner. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that when dinner finally arrived some of the orders were incorrect and three sides of tortillas were missing with the fajitas. It took at least 15 minutes to track down the waiter to tell him about the missing/incorrect items. He then corrected the items and brought 2 flour tortillas but not the corn. We waited another 10 minutes and told him that we were missing a tortilla. He said "Can't you just share those?" We told him that those were flour and we needed a corn. He huffed away and reluctantly brought an order of corn tortillas 10 minutes later. Throughout the meal drinks went empty, we ran out of salsa and of course the waiter was nowhere to be found. We ended up getting our own extra straws and napkins from the back room ourselves. At the end of the meal we asked to spilt the bill into 4 and the waiter said they couldn't do that. I told him that they said on the phone that we could. He refused. When the check came it included an 18% gratuity which we reluctantly paid. I had been to Casa Margarita numerous times and usually had a great experience. This was the first time I have ever been there with such a large group and it was definitely my last. There are plenty of other choices for Mexican food in the Orland Park area and I will find a restaurant that cares about its customers. Which is too bad because they had great margaritas.

Terrible. First of all, our waiter was less than friendly, and not very quick to serve us. They brought out "complementary chicken soup" randomly before our meal. I ate one bite before I found a black hair in mine. I'm not a big fan of Mexican food so I just ordered cheese quesadilla's which had still frozen guacamole on top (it was very obvious with the ice cube on my plate!) My fiancé, who lives Mexican food got a full huge meal which now lead to him with food poisoning. Don't eat here!!

Wow. This place has really gone down in quality and up in price. We used to enjoy bringing the family here but NO MORE. Service was slow, food was marginal. This is our last time here. Burrito Jalisco on 159th, you have a customer for life.

The portions here are rather large so if you are looking to really fill yourself up than you have arrived at a good spot. The service was fine and the fellow who was serving us was way too over-formal and not really friendly/welcoming. We thought it unusual that service style did not seem to match the rest of the restaurant. Our server did a good job taking care of us. You already know about the portion size but the quality/flavors were acceptable. I was not disappointed or neither knocked off my feet. Since they are so close we will be back

This place is fantastic. The margaritas are delish, chips and salsa super yummy, and the chicken soup as an appetizer is delish. I'm not sure why the reviews are lack luster but I've been here 6+ times, live in the city and anytime we come out to orland park it's a must we stop here. Food is fresh and high quality and the service is spot on.

Best Mexican restaurant in the area. Margaritas are great (plus they have specials on margaritas during the week!), service is always superb, food has always been delicious (favorite is the nachos). It's a shame that people go to Uncle Julios down the street...that place is gross.

First, I usually check Yelp before heading out to any restaurant. Despite the negative reviews, I remember this place being great when I was there a few years ago so I thought I'd try it again... big mistake. I noticed that most of the reviews over 3 stars usually mention something about alcohol. That sounds about right because you'd have to be drunk to think this place is worth coming back to. We were seated immediately at 9:30 on a Friday night. There were about 2 other patrons in the establishment (kind of empty for 9:30 on a Friday night in Orland Park). First off, the chips and salsa seemed nothing more than chips out of a bag with salsa out of a can or jar. The salsa had no taste. I'm a big Mexican food fan so this was VERY disappointing. Like everyone else said, the free soup was the best part of the meal but they couldn't even get that right. Take a look at the photo I posted of a partially rotten carrot from the soup. There were 2 of these in one bowl. Now comes the main course. We both ordered chorizo chimichangas. The menu clearly stated they were served with sour cream and guacamole. The chimichangua was pretty big but we only got about 1/2 - 1 teaspoon of sour cream and guacamole. The small portions of each were mixed with lettuce so they were kind of unusable on the chimichangua itself. When we asked for more guacamole and sour cream we were asked what size we wanted to order. We explained that the portion given was ridiculous and questioned why we would be charged for more. The waitress went and spoke to the manager. The waitress, not the manager, came back and said "The manager said that's the portion you are supposed to get". Really? How would she know without even looking at it? We asked to speak to the manager directly but were told "NO". What kind of restaurant won't let you talk to a manager? Finally the manager came to the table and argued some more about the portion size. Remember, it was literally 1/2 teaspoon on one plate and 1 teaspoon on the other. The manager was nice and gave the impression that the situation was beyond her control. She said she would let her boss know about the complaint and there was nothing she could do this time around. She said she would take care of us next time. A while latter the manager came back with an envelope with a $10 gift certificate in it and told us we can use it next time. Being that I NEVER plan on returning, I looked the gift certificate over for any wording that said it couldn't be used today and then gave it to the server when we got the check. The manager could be seen shaking her head side to side when the waitress asked her if it was OK but they did end up taking the $10 off without incident. Honestly, I don't know what happened to this place. Like I said, I was here a few years ago and it really went downhill. I don't even know how they stay in business. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere where they know how to treat customers. Oh, and the prices are on the high side for local Mexican places. The same dinner with better service, more guacamole, and better chips can be had a Pepe's for $3-$4 less. ** EDIT ** Just saw the review from "J.L." below. "J.L. gave this place 5 stars and is supposedly a "food critic that dines out 4 nights a week" One would think that a "food critic" that dines out "more than 4 nights a week" would have more than 2 total reviews on yelp! I suspect a shill.

The buffet table was full of yummy looking foods that failed to deliver the promise that they gave visually. The hot cart was broken and the food was mostly cool to cold. Many people came out, pulled it out, fiddled with some knob and pushed it back in. Rinse and repeat. Taste was equal in disappointment. Didn't enjoy, will not return.

It sucks.

That's how bad it was folks. ew.

I find it hard to believe that a restaurant can't make gluten free chips. Needless to say this place was a disappointment. The margaritas were ok.

Best Mexican restaurant in the area. Margaritas are great (plus they have specials on margaritas during the week!), service is always superb, food has always been delicious (favorite is the nachos). It's a shame that people go to Uncle Julios down the street...that place is gross.

Lots of choices for their margaritas. I do not like that you can not order tacos or tostadas ala carte as their portion sizes are kind of large. It usually is not too crowded and can get a table quickly. The service is always friendly.

The lunch buffet is subject par at best. Do not go for dinner. Way over priced.

Love this place, relaxed and good experience. Would recommend to anyone in area, delicious margs and dacs. Never had a problem and go here constantly.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
